CHICAGO – Douglas Monroe, MD, a physician with Prism Healthcare Partners, and Nishant Anand, MD, Physician-in-Chief of MHMD, Memorial Hermann Physician Network were selected to lead a session at the Healthcare Financial Management Association’s (HFMA) 2017 National Institute (ANI). Dr. Monroe and Dr. Anand presented “The Financial Benefits of Clinical Integration: One ACO’s Perspective” on Tuesday, June 27 at 3:30 PM.

Using the success of Memorial Hermann’s clinical improvement program as the foundation for the presentation, Dr. Monroe and Dr. Anand shared a practical, high-level framework for clinical integration and provided recommendations on how to measure clinical metrics and outcomes, achieve a mature level of clinical integration, and mitigate clinical and financial risk in the process. Attendees learned how to:

  • Examine the use of a high-level framework to create structures aligned with clinical integration
  • Establish a clinical decision-making infrastructure
  • Approach cost-savings initiatives with clinician help
  • Consider new payment opportunities available to providers with high clinical performance

Its national conference, ANI, is attended by more than 5,000 healthcare leaders and professionals and features high-profile speakers and over 90 educational sessions. The 2017 ANI took place June 25-28 in Orlando, Florida at the Orange County Convention Center.
